How do I create just a simple column chart in Excel 2011 for Mac?

I'm finding Excel 2011 for mac EXTREMELY difficult to work with. All I want to do is create a simple bar chart. Not a cluster, not a stacked, just a simple x versus y Column Chart. How do I do this? I've spent over an hour trying to watch tutorials and research Excel help online. It's ridiculous!

Use the Clustered column chart. With a simple 2 column table it gives you a simple column chart.
