How to make voice stand out and remove background music, or redue background music?

Ok, I know this question mght have been asked to many times, but the forums are particualrly long and there hasn't been any good answers. I have a clip and I just want the voice to stand out, and reduce the background music, is there anyway I can do that I have goldwave, and i have heard about audacity, but the thing is, these programms are only good if you want to REMOVE the vocals and keep the background music, However I want to do the opposite or something which will atleast give me a closer result to having only vocals and maybe atleast reduce the background music. Would really appreciate if there are steps to do this along with information on what tools to use. I am really stuck on this and really would appreciate it By the way, Merry Christmas everyone!
