How do I import a concert recording from a digital recorder to Audacity and then export tracks to itunes?
-
I recently purchased an Olympus digital voice recorder, model ws 311m (which records WAV files) to record concerts. My trouble is that when I plug the digital recorder into my USB port and listen to it through Windows Media Player, everything is fine. However, when I open the file in Audacity and hit play, the entire 2 hour concert goes by in about 3 seconds with an annoying noise. I have a feeling that there is probably an easy solution to this, but it escapes me. I have done nothing other than open the file with Audacity...do I need to save it as a project first? Or is there a setting that needs to be changed? My goal is to be able to separate the concert into audio tracks and then export the tracks to itunes where I can then burn a CD of the concert. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
I've done it as follows converting .wav files from my Creative Muvo v200 to .mp3: 1. save the .wav file onto your PC 2. Start Audacity and select File > Open (navigate to -and select the file) 3. Select File > export to MP3 (say where you want to save it) 3. Fill in the details ID3 tags in the dialog that opens 4. Click OK If you hear a 3 second annoying noise it could be that Audacity is trying to open some other file besides the .wav and that's why you are not hearing it. So step1 is the most important make sure you have a big wav file sitting on your pc first. Alternatively if you have it in Windows media player you could try burning it straight to CD from there (as one long track).
