Why won't iTunes install?

ITunes 10.6.1 wont install onto my computer.?

  • For the past few months iTunes has kept popping up telling me to update, but whenever I click okay it starts to download the update, then stops, and comes up with an error message saying 'Errors occurred while installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download Only and try installing it manually. Well I've done this so many times, and nothing changes. It's driving me crazy, and now I've just got a message saying iTunes wont work unless it's updated. I've also tried updating it from the actual iTunes website, and it does the same thing but comes up with 'The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified. Please run the installer again, or click Finish to exit.' What does this mean and what do I do?
