  • Answer:

There are thousands of programs that are available. You should use the ubuntu package manager called Synaptic. You simply use Synaptic to search for the program and have it installed.

Hello; First off don't get frustrated ... it can be difficult to install programs in Linux. The good thing is that most of the time it isn't very hard at all. The "Easy Way" -- Go to Applications and select Ubuntu Software Center, it will give you a list of software types (Games, Internet, Office etc. ...). Pick a category and look for a software title that interests you. Considering there are over 36 thousand listings you should be able to find something interesting. You can even read the website of the author from here. You will have enter you password to get the software but for the most part everything on the list should run -- it should install automatically. This is as easy as it gets. The "Slightly Hard Way" Once you find a software application you are interested in (from whatever source). Go to the terminal and from the command line type "sudo apt-get install application-name". The apt-get program will ask for you password and then it will go out on the web and attempt to find the program. It might ask some yes or no questions but it generally installs the program and it is ready to run. The "Hard way" Download some software from the Internet and then try to make it work -- it can be done -- but it can be very difficult. Cordially Bill (Nulfinator on YouTube)

The great thing about Ubuntu is the user support available on the internet. Use a little google magic to find your answer. Something along the lines of "How to install programs ubuntu" should do the trick. You're most likely going to want to open a terminal and type: sudo apt get install <url to program> Good luck
