It is illegal to download music via limewire, weather you purchase it or not. a girl was fined 6000 pounds for downloading music using limewire in the UK. be very careful. Although I personally am not against it :)

Limewire and BitTorrent programs / downloading protocols themselves are legal. However the vast majority of items available for download (movies, TV, software) are covered by copyright, and copying them and sharing them without the copyright owner's permission is not legal. Paying money for the Limewire program does not make the pirated music downloads legal. If the items have not specifically been granted to free downloading by the author / owner, it's not legal. Pay for your commercial entertainment and software, don't download pirated versions. Look for legitimate shareware and open source alternatives to commercial software if you don't want to pay. There is lots of music that the performers have released to be freely listened to. Check MP3.com http://www.mp3.com/free-music/?tag=topnav;freemusic Download.com http://music.download.com/ These will not be the top 10 hits though, you generally have to buy the popular commercial music. Also check the official sites of bands you like to see if they offer any. There are also streaming music feeds available from internet radio stations, such as http://last.fm and subscription services from Napster, Rhapsody, eMusic, SpiralFrog http://www.spiralfrog.com (these are subsciption songs which you may not download and keep after the subscription expires).

Yes, regardless of "how" you download the media, anything you do not pay for that is available retail is considered piracy, hence illegal regardless of if you use the retail or free version of limewire. The only legit way to buy music online is through itunes. Correct me if I'm wrong.

its the same illegal but you have to be careful cause when you download a song from lime wire it also can come down with a virus

Limewire is just a file-sharing program. The Pro version gets you some added benefits like more simultaneous connections, faster download speed, etc. but that's it. It doesn't mean Limewire is actually giving record companies money for any songs you might download. Whether you get the free or Pro version, downloading copyrighted material with Limewire is illegal. You can download all the open-source and freely-distributed content you want, but anything else is legally off-limits.

Buying Limewire Pro will not make your hansen Album any less illegal to download. Any copy written material you download off Limewire is illegal, doesn't matter what they charge you for the client. Just because you pay Limewire $25 (GOD WHO WOULD DO THIS) doesn't make Spider-Man3 - 2008 DVD RIP.avi any more legal. If you want legal music stick to things with subscription services or pay per download. If something sounds too good to be true, or has confusing legality, that's because it's probably not legit.

Yes and Yes, downloading copyrighted music from either Limewire or Limewire Pro is illegal. If you want to make sure you're legal I would recommend either Amazon or iTunes since they both offer DRM-free downloads (music without digital rights management). I wouldn't suggest buying any music in a DRM protected format since A) it will only work on certain devices and B) you could lose access to your music if 1) you have some type of computer failure or 2) the company that sells the music goes belly up. Remember, DRM-free. You might pay a little more but it's worth it to know your music will (probably) always work, anytime, anywhere.
