How to get started website designing?

• I have a couple questions, I didn't get to answer when I was in college cause I had no idea. They never prepared me to get started in the design world. I am interested in starting up my own small business website design company. I also want to help keep them maintained as far as changes they need to make or uploading images. I also will be doing photo editing (enhance,cropping, etc..) I am wondering, do I need to get permission for my company? and have legal documents? I don't know how to get started with that. Also, if I am wanting to help maintain websites and host them, do I need my own server how do i get one? is there a way that I can host them threw a hosting internet company with their own domain names? I am just wondering how to get started with all this. I don't know what to expect from people if you design their websites from them, if they expect you to find a hosting site and keep it up. I hope I make some sense :) Thanks.

  Well, when you say "keep them maintained" I am guessing you mean keep in track for changes they want and stuff right? if that's the case, that will be depending on the job they ask you for. Ppl who create web sites are called web designers/programmers, and ppl who do the maintenance of those websites are called webmasters. So yeah is depending for what you are going for. Personally, I think if you wanna start as a web designer by yourself (being your own boss), it will be better if you start as a freelance worker (work-for-hire). Making your own company is a bit complicated and also can be a bit costly. If you want to make your own company, you WILL need legal documents,like every other company. Most of the time an accountant can help you lots with that,so going to your bank for advice would be your best bet for that. If you wanna work as a webmaster, you will need your own domain,not server.The servers are mostly provided by the person you are working for.It is highly unlikely that they ask you to provide your own server,since servers usually have very important (and mostly confidential) information for them that they wouldn't give to almost everyone. For domains there are a lot of them around the net, google them. When some1 hires you they will usually just ask you to make a website for them and have their own IT tech or webmaster take care of the rest, since webmasters are quite costly as well. What you could expect from ppl hiring you is a deadline, which sometimes are very short so you must be a very good designer.Some others will just make a contract with you,which are a lot more flexible with time and more profitable.
