How to decrypt a file?

Using Windows 7 I encrypted a file for the first time thinking it would be easy to read when I needed to. It has proven otherwise. How do I decrypt this file?

find the algorithmic equation it is written in for example MD5, LM, Sha 256, hook up to a cluster of computer and wait several years for it to dycrpt.
Whatever program you used to encrypt the file should have a decrypt option. To James Smiths comment, MD5 is not an encryption and can not ever be decrypted.
