Why the Window tab gets closed without closing the window?

IE8 Not Responding - Close Single Tab?

  • Hi guys, This is a problem i get alot, I believe in on IE8, its the most current, on Vista. And very often my IE gets unresponsive, and i get the not respondng mesg, and to close or restart. Well the question i have, is that this happens alot when im downloading files, and some take ages, the downloads are always unaffected, but if i close program i loose that download, like 70% done. Is there anyway that closing the program does not close every IE tab/window, when it happens, i often leave the bad window, and start a new one, just to allow the downloads to continue, but the new window always goes the same way. SO, can IE close one window and keep my download open ont he responsive tabs?

  • Answer:

IE8 is a bit of a pain. It does tend to freeze sometimes, even under Windows XP. I have no idea why. It's best to use a download manager which will pick up where it left off. There are loads about, all free. Try Flashget. It's been around forever. There may be better ones but it's always worked well for me: http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm
