Is JSP worth learning?

Is jsp free to use....?????????

• Hello friends, i am a newbie in web-development...i have started learning JSP.... I need to know that is JSP free to use.... I mean if I build a website in Jsp, then do i need to purchase any license like in asp.... or Jsp open source like php ??? thanks in advance.........

  You don't need any licenses if you build a site in asp (don't know where you got this wrong info) or any other programming language including jsp or php. The only difference is the software you will use to write the code. In all languages you can write your code in notepad or notepad++ but you can also use expensive software such as Microsoft Visual studio (for asp and asp.net) But equivalent software for jsp or php also costs money. Another difference is hosting type and databases used. Traditionally, with asp you use MSSQL database which costs money whereas with php or jsp you connect to a MySQL free open source databse. With asp you usually host your site on Windows server and php / jsp you host on a free open source Linux server.
