Where is the animation button in Photoshop?

Can Photoshop's Animation Tool replace Flash?

  • Is it possible that due to Adobe Photoshop's rapidly evolving Animation Tool, that it replaces Flash as the main web animation tool, and as a possible scenario, pushing Flash to focus on ActionScript making it a full Programming application?

  • Answer:

No, I don't think its gonna replace it since both of them belong to a different type of program. Photoshop was created specially to modify pictures and draw, flash was created specially to make interactive WEB pages and do animations. Flash has all the necessary tools to create the most powerful animations, combining actionscript and vectorized images/drawings. The photoshop animation tool may be handy, and create another kind of animation (more in the artsy side) but it would never replace Flash.

I second Hana. Years and years ago Macromedia Director (which was bought with Flash by Adobe) was the standard for creating animations. Flash ate its lunch. There have always been two types of Animation standards. To oversimplify one with one without sound. Actually there's more to it than that, including things like FLV can convey considerably more information in a smaller file format than GIF and other Photoshop formats. You are using them to two different purposes.
