Internal images in html email?
-
My boss was sending Microsoft Word documents out with his sales and logo info and stuff but he said certain clients were having issues if they had different versions of Word or didn't have word at all. I designed a simple page for my boss to send email messages in HTML format so that he doesn't have to worry about compatibility as much. But when I designed it, I used pure HTML and linked the images to an external website. I want to save bandwidth on the site and not have to use an external site to display the images. Is there a way to make the images embedded or something so that they don't require an external site and just load from attachments? And he doesn't want to have to attach 10 images to each email he sends. Thanks

Answer:
What you (and he) want is impossible. Email is defined as a text protocol, so many email programs don't handle anything but text. HTML pages look like what they are - pages full of tags and links. So even your "linkified" emails look like just links. The ONLY legitimate (guaranteed to work in all email programs that conform to the protocol) way to do it is a text page and a non-text attachment that doesn't depend on any particular program to read. I'd suggest either a graphic format (.jpg or .png) or a .pdf file.
