How is a website like craigslist run, behind the "scenes"? Like say you post an add does it just post itself?

I want to start a website but I don't know what it consists of. When somebody posts an ad is it set up to just appear on the internet or does it take like an internet coder or something?

its automatic. but for that you will need both software and a web designer. the most you can do by yourself with no experience is set links and pages.
