How to manage my pdf files?

When connected directly to a FTP server in dreamweaver, how do you add files?

• I don't have the new site on my computer (it's just on the server and I don't want it all on my computer). I have it setup to connect through dreamweaver directly (Manage Sites - new site - FTP&RDS Server). This has all worked perfectly so far, however....I don't know how to add new files to the site. For example new pdf documents that I want to link.

• Answer:

  Turn off the whole FTP thing in Dreamweaver. (If you want to see the absolute worst FTP client ever written, you're looking at it.) Download something that works, like Filezilla. Or map a drive to the FTP site. Then, to add a file to the site, just drag it to the site. BTW, if you're not saving a local copy of the site, you're begging for disaster. The site WILL (eventually) crash without a recent valid backup. Your local copy will be all you have left. If you keep one. (I ever keep fewer than 3 - one on a laptop, one on a flash drive and one on the work computer. I learned the hard way - once.)
