Different types of web designers!?

  • Hello, I'm a new website designer which I know HTML, CSS, and a bit JavaScript. I would like to know about web designers types. I mean there are lots of different design styles and languages. Like E-commerce websites which normally design by CMS, News website which are very big and design by CMS as well. Also some websites are personal and they are just a few pages. I would like to know about the last one Which normally design by HTML and css or flash. can you explain for me which kind of designers are better? e-commerce design and working on huge projects or personal web design and working in graphic more? And do they really have different designers or designers can do both of them? I really like working on small project and spend time on graphic but I would like to know what is professional and right way?

    It isn't really a question of which is "better", they're just different types of web design. Some people prefer to use image-based websites in Adobe Photoshop, some prefer to base their designs on CSS. Some designers like to use Flash-based websites, while others prefer to use AJAX. With CMS, it's actually more difficult because you first have to do a lot of research on the CMS to find out what all the different components there are to take into account.

there are web designers (they make a site look pretty) and web developers (the write the code that you don't see) and there are some people that do both. Like me Im a developer that is moving over to design. In all cases the Design should be separate from the tool used to develop the site. In real commercial sites you need to take many things into account eg, who are your users, bandwidth limitations, and legal issues eg flash has issues with accessibility so it tends not to be used by governments or large corporations. Also in general the larger the project the greater the complexity and the greater the level of expertise and specialization required to complete the project. As for what kind of designers are better, well the answer is simple the one that can do the job you are asking them to do. eg I know some good designers, but they can't finish a Flash site because they are not very skilled programmers. I have found that the best solutions is to have developers and designers work together, other wise you end up with a half baked site.

uhm well unless your in for some coding i would learn to use dream weaver the software. its the industry standard and then theres flash. im not sure about the security end and servers and such but as far as i know theres only html websites and then flash websites. and most flash designers can make an html. so its best to know both along with some programing. photoshop is a must illustrator is nearly as important. so its a lot of learning to use programs and then some code to be a web designer. butof coursee their are sub units of everything but its more of aspecializationn than a different species.

A professional web designer is a graphic artist. A professional web developer is a programmer. Either one does his work on any kind of website he gets paid to work on.
