Does it provides good SEO benefits to buy multiple domains who link to the same website using 301 redirect?

By example, if I have a website who sell calender, but the domain is : www.johnfurniture.com, does it provides good seo benefits to buy www.agenda.com and link it to the main website using 301 redirect. And how many can we buy?
