How do I put pictures/gifs to my answers to the questions in my ask box on Tumblr?

I know it has something to do with HTML, but I don't know the code. Am I supposed to upload the picture on some site then upload it to Tumblr? Or what am I supposed to do? when I see RSS feeds, I always see this: <img height="169" width="208" src="http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lf5y… what does that mean? It would be better if the answer would be a step by step process thanks :)
