How do you get people to take you seriously?

How can i get people to take me seriously?

  • Im an amateur designer and im a Grade 9 student,my dad does Graphic Design(and owns a recording studio) for a living so i have access to really good Design software..anyway since im only in grade 9 most people won't take me seriously as a designer and im wondering how i can help that?? I can't take it in school because im home schooled but im open to online courses. Also I love designing websites and i have designed like 10 so i would love to do some designing for businesses and people who want a website but have no clue how to start...and it would be nice to have some extra cash over the summer since im too young to get a job lol so how can i get people to take me seriously..and be willing to pay? lol and how could i advertise online?

    You can get people to take you seriously by being serious and gaining a reputation and portfolio which proves you can be taken seriously. You need to take whatever opportunities you can get and really excel at them. Work your way up to "real" clients. Start with friends, community organizations, etc. Prove yourself with the people who will be willing to give you a chance because they know you. Then, you can show that work to those who will be paying you for your work.

Well, for graphic design you'd have to create a portfolio - use a site such as deviant art or even create and design your own website. Advertise it through common methods, starting by sending your portfolio to friends and family, email, and then work your way up to purchasing actual advertisements, etc. To get people to take you seriously you have to prove your abilities, and creating a portfolio of your work to showcase will show potential customers your abilities as a graphic artist.
