How do I make a picture small?

How to make a huge picture small without it being Pixelated.?

  • i have this 3000+by2000+ image of myself and trying to make an avatar of it. 50by50. how is that possible without getting it too pixelated. i've tried using CS3 but to no avail. i am not good at it.

    Scaling down doesn't pixelate, scaling up does. You just need to make sure you are saving for web and saving at maximum quality (it's how you are saving it that makes it look pixelated).

I use GIMP for these kinds of things. It has some pretty good algorithms for scaling images, it's free, and it lets you save as a JPG with whatever quality level you want (higher quality image = bigger file size).

3000 x 2000 is not a square like 50 x 50, so you'll need to crop it. Select the crop tool. In the tool properties enter width 50px height 50px, then crop your image.

When you used CS3 to make smaller the image... how did you try... Simply select and reduce the size... or copy paste on 50x50 new page and try to fix in that size...?? Just do one thing ... open the original image ...copy it to another new page ... select the image >> pres ctrl+T >> now press ALT+SHIFT and reduce to your size..... it wont pixelate Try it
