Where can I learn about computer programming?

Where can I learn Computer Programming with out a high school diploma?

  • I am a high school senior and I'm considering a degree in computer science but, first I want to test it out to see if I would like it and if I do I will also get some knowledge about it. Is there a place in Houston, TX where I could go an learn Computer Programming? Thanks.

  • Answer:

You can learn programming directly from the Web, or from a book. You don't need to take classes. There are zillions and zillions of books on computer programming. If you cannot learn programming from a book or online, that may be one indication that programming (and possibly computer science generally) isn't for you.

in my opinion doing it from a book or online is easiest to start with. chose java its a great language to learn once you get the hang of it. [email protected] is my email if you need help with programming. one thing you need to think of is no place really has good teaching in person, no matter who you chose it will be the same. I am also willing in helping you. the online place you would go is Google. just Google anything you want and there will be tons of good stuff. if there is a way i could IM you then i could help you get started. really the first semester of any class is basic syntax which is really simple to get started with. i learned java on my own, know basic syntax(code setup) of c++, lua, and basic syntax of alot of other languages

I can't speak for Texas, but in California there are Community Colleges all over the place that will teach all sorts of introductory classes for a nominal fee. Their only requirement is that you be resident in the area, since it's paid for by our property taxes. So I would suggest you check your local phone book for your closest community college, and I'll bet there's something very similar there that will do exactly what you want.

try to go to college and ask them if they have DUAL program which gives you permission to go to high school and college college --> online courses --> pick ok?? or go to computer apps class teacher and ask them if their friends teach any courses for high school kids or which books are best for beginners ?
