How do you remove the background of an image?
-
I'm talking about removing the background in the sense that .. Let's say it was a picture of a circle, so that only the circle would appear without a square background. Kind of hard to explain.

Answer:
I used "magic wand" tool in Photoshop to capture the background (usually has to be done in several steps). Then I press the delete button. If you don't have Photoshop, try GIMP 2.0. It's free, legal, and does about 90% of the same things as Photoshop does.

You can remove background in any photo editing software but i think photoshop is the best software for this purpose
what photo editing software are you using ???? there are different steps for different programs but i can send you a link to find your answer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzA7j0CUUOY&feature=related this is a soft mask video and will help you but its for paint.net which is a free program by the way.
No it's not hard to explain. That's a very common requirement in the graphics world. You have to use some software like Adobe Photoshop, select the background color (has to be one color) with the magic wand tool and then press delete. Photoshop has a myriad of other tools to accomplish the same task, however, if you don't have that software, you can use the Microsoft Word. Just insert the image you want in a new document, once you click on it, the image tool bar will appear, select the "Set Transparent Color" tool and click on the background of the image to remove it. Every graphics editing program has a similar tool, i just don't know which specific program you are using to be more precise in my answer. I hope i helped.
There are a lot of programs out there that can help you with that. I use Paint Shop Pro... and for the most part they can remove the background images - however there still may be soe clean-up work needed. http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1184951547051#tabview=tab0 Might be a good place to start. If you can't get hold of a copy for some reason, if you can send me your image I would be glad to see what I can do to help you.
