How to cache external Javascript files?

How to edit javascript files for my website :(?

Hi all i want to make a quick change in my website template adn hence o wish to know how to edit the files as per my requirement. Alright so the template is this way : on the index page i have a picture slider which slides automatically . I want to change these pics, now to change this i definitely have to do something with jquery javascript files but i really have no experience with jquery or javascript either but i definitely know html. So please let me know what should i edit and how do i edit the same. Plz, plz give me detailed and precise information. Big thanks to all :)

I'm not a right person to answer this question. Even though I know that you can edit javascript using Microsoft Office Frontpage and NetBeans IDE for java. Try it out :-)
