Help With My Website?

Help with website, please?

  • I'm going to tell you right now, I'm not 100% computer literate, so if I get a term wrong while describing my problem, please don't yell me out. Okay, so I started making a website with Webs.com. I purchased a 4.99 package with them and thought it would give me a proper domain name, but the package gave me just about everything but the domain. Upset and feeling like they tricked me, I cancelled the service and went with 1and1, figuring they could give me the domain and I could simply transfer it to my already created Webs website. Unfortunately, Webs has that stupid "Must wait 60 days before transferring domain" thing. Inpatient me needs the website for business and needs the website now. So, I began creating a site with BlueVoda's website builder, one I'm rather familiar with, and before building I read how to publish the website with a host besides VodaHost. So, I spend around a week working on this website, finish it the other day, and THEN I find out my 1and1 account doesn't give me an FTP address, something I 100% need for this to work. So, what I'm basically asking is for someone to point me in the right direction, please? I'm tired of this run around and I really need this website up soon, but I'm also on a very limited budget. If anyone could give me any information on what to do, I'd appreciate it very much! Thank you!

I think that the best thing you can do is register for weebly.com They offer an easy site builder and you can purchase a domain. Much better than Webs

1st. Buy the domain name you want if you haven't got it yet. Network Solutions is the best place for that. That's how you're going to be able to tell people to find your page. Next, you need to build and host your site somewhere. It doesn't matter where but if you need a simple interface to build the pages (rather than code the page yourself) then any of those services are fine. The limitation to that is that ftp is going to be a problem and if you don't know how to code then you're going to have some issues with accepting ftp files had having them do something. Have you looked at google sites?

Ok I have had the same problem before: you need to go to google ok and type: download file zilla , this is a FTP software, then all you need is your user name and password, and log into FTP, then you can upload your HTML or php files etc.. You no you can upload your index.HTML in there and that will be your main page... FTP.yourdomain.com won't work. You need file zilla , and that will work, trust me download file zilla.

If you need general help with Domain Name, Web Hosting, E-Mail Setup and much much more I would highly recommend the FREE Website Creation Help website for beginners - Here: http://www.websitecreationhelp.com/ This is how I learnt. The information on that website is explained in an easy-to-understand way. Ideal for beginners.

Your ftp address is usually your domain e.g. http://yourdomain.com , or with an ftp extention e.g. http://ftp.yourdomain.com . If you have already registered a domain and want to transfer it to another host, you'll have to contact the host's registrar and request a transfer.
