How do I add my own news feed to my website?

How can I add a newsfeed to my website that feeds from my hosted blogs?

  • I host a personal website for my friends and family to keep in touch with me while I'm overseas. My website also offers my friends and family the option of having their own blogs as where I am I don't have access to most of the big blog hosts. What I want to do is add a news feed to my index.php file (I forget why it's .php, something to do with Dreamweaver and the layout) which will check the hosted blogs and then post the titles of the three most recent entries. My searches have come up with very little information on exactly how this can be accomplished. In case it matters each of the blogs uses Wordpress software hosted on my website - not on wordpress.com. I have complete access to the files and cpanel should I need to add databases and whatnot. Oh, and I don't want to use a prepackaged portal for my index.php. I am keeping my site small and simple and my experimenting with various portals only led to frustration as they are bundled with far too much garbage I'm not interested in.

  • Answer:

Use Carp - it will grab the rss feed for you. You can customize it to display as much or as little as you want: There is a free version of Carp and a paid version. The free version is Carp LE. http://www.geckotribe.com/go/13/467/
