How do i add products to my website?

Adding checkout to website?

  • I have made a website with html and css. I have 10 products on the website which I want to sell. All I want to do is, for example have an icon next to my product on my existing website allowing that to be added to the cart/checkout. Then have a checkout (link) at the top of my existing website. So once the visiter has perhaps added a few items to the cart, they can go to the checkout and those selected items will be there and they can add their credit/debit card details. I have been looking at ecommerce like Opencart and Oscommerce. I am new to this kind of thing and it seems fairly simply to edit the css of those but I don't know how to fully edit those sites or how to acheive what I mentioned above? Opencart seems really good but I just don't know how to intergrate it into my site. I can easily create links to it (opencart pages) on my site, but how do I make an 'add to card' button on my existing website communicate with the cart so that it gets added to the checkout. What is the best way to do this? As I said, I am new to this kind of thing so please answer in detail. Thanks in advance!

You can't do it with just HTML and CSS: you need a server side script, a database and a payment gateway... If you have Php, download the free scripts from http://web2coders.com (php modules tab) "Login script" (you need it to get details of your customers and follow through the purchases) "Shopping cart" (The basic of e-commerce) "Easy PayPal Integration" for your payment gateway. All three give you a nice e-commerce, easy to understand and adapt to your needs... Good luck!

I like opencart and have used it frequently. You could link the product page on your website to the product page on your opencart installation. Typically, unless you have experience coding, you don't integrate your cart into the main site like that. You could set up your entire site in Opencart but you'd lose your existing sites work. When I need a shopping cart, I set up the entire website within opencart, so when the visitor comes to the site, they're in the cart software already. When I've needed to keep them separate, I'll link to the shopping cart so they can add the product to their cart and then either provide a button to go back to the main site or set up a redirect. I find this counter productive though, as the goal of the site is to sell products and I don't want potential customer going between what effectively is two sites to do so. I've found it more fruitful to have the whole cart as the site and be able to sell products from the main page.

In your case, with so few products and limited coding experience, I would recommend Google Checkout. It's very easy to integrate it into a website (in fact it has a wizard that generates the code for you and all you have to do is copy/paste. Paypal would also be a good option.

Best e-commerce software is Ultimate Web Builder. It has a lot of features, including payments and inventory management. It also comes with a built-in SEO tool to build traffic to your website..

You could use paypals add to cart buttons if you just want to add it to your existing website. They provide cut and paste code that you can add which will create add to cart buttons for your website. It would be difficult to manage if you added many more items but at only 10 items you should be ok and this will be fairly low cost. Once your traffic starts picking up you might want to look at one of the larger paid ecommerce software tools as they will make managing your site and your store much easier and you can have a more professional look and feel. Hi.. The best way is to hire a freelancer. I am PHP developer and I can do it for you. Having a shopping cart software such as opencart or OsCommerce is not enough, but also you need a payment processor to accept money through it and get it in cash. So you need as well PayPal account to accept payment through paypal, or 2checkout. Since you have few products, I would recommend Paypal of course, as it will be like plug n play, and will take few hours to be done. I can do it for you for $70 only, and people will pay you using paypal. Silicon Valley for web development http://www.svwebdev.com/
