How can I add text on gif?

I'm making a gif in Gimp 2.6, how do I add text and keep the text in the same place in every frame?

  • I tried looking it up but all the answers are for PhotoShop. How do I add text to each frame of the gif so the words are in the EXACT same place for each frame?

  • Answer:

Hey, this should be pretty easy :) Say you have 5 layers in your gif, each one represents one frame. Then you have your text layer. Right click on the text layer in the layers tool (if you don't have a layers tool, go to windows>dockable diaogs>layers and it will appear) duplicate the text layer, and drag it directly above each layer you want the text to be on. Then, right click on the layer of text above the layer you want it to be on, and click on merge down. this will put the text on to the layer below and since you duplicated the original layer, you can do this for each layer and it will be in exactly the same position for each frame.
