What qualifications do I need to be a web designer?

Do I need to be able to draw well to become a Web Designer?

  • I want to become a Web Designer, and am planning to go to The Art Institute of Portland and get a B.S. in Interactive Media and Web Design. I would like to know if I need to be able to draw well as far as "pencil and paper" sketching. I am comfortable using a computer and the adobe suite inc. photoshop etc... but I am not very good at all drawing on paper. Are there any Web Designers out there reading this that can tell me if they draw on paper often in their daily job? Is it a necessity? Can I become a Web Designer if I cant draw? Any pointers? Also any advice for someone looking to get in the field? Thank you in advance for any and all answers!!!

nope . Im not a good "drawer" but I've been a Web Designer for 10 years btw, the market is very flooded for Designers. YOUR Best bet is to make sure that you know programming languages (learn PHP) and some back end technology (database programming like MYSQL) as that will get you farther
