How to work my blackberry messenger in another country?

my blackberry plan includes international blackberry messenger and im in europe but it doesnt work for some reason. it says its connected to some kind of service nbut it says "not connected" . and i suppsed to download sopmething or change the "global" to GSM? can someone help?
