Is the MyTouch 3G Slide a good phone?

Which phone is better: the Blackberry 9700 or the Mytouch 3g slide?

I am looking for a phone that has a large memory and long battery life. I do a lot of texting and web surfing. I like the fact that the new OS for Blackberry allows for threaded SMS since I text a lot and it makes it easier to find previous texts from a contact all in one place. But I was told that with My touch, you have more applications and most of them are free or at least cheaper than the Blackberry applications. They are both great phones, but which one!? LOL. Help!
