PSP software 5.51 update question?

My PSP is from Europe, but I am in Canada. I was reading about the 5.51 update on the official PSP website and it says the update is only for PSP systems bought in North america. My PSP is on system 3.1 or something so it needs updating, is there a way to get the update file for my PSP?
