Blackberry curve 8520 instant messaging not working?

  • i have a blackberry curve 8520 on contract, my contract is on orange with unlimited texts & 400 mins per month. - im able to get onto the instant messaging but when i add someone it just says pending & they dont recieve it? do i need a data plan & where can i get one? i also have connected to wi-fi which means im able to connect to the internet at home so is there a way i can do instant messaging from this without having to pay? thanks :)

    IM requires a data package in order to work. It will not likely work if you use wifi because the IM needs to run through the blackberry servers, which your phone cannot access without a blackberry data plan from your carrier. You would need to call your carrier and find out the data plans offered.

This problem happend very frecuently when i had my curve , thats why i switched to android . Anyways , take the battery pack out and put it back in 2 minuites later . Thats what i always did . But i would defenitly consider getting rid of your blackberry . They aren't the best of phones .
