Can I Jailbreak my iPhone on 3.1.2?

Re-jailbreak my iPhone 4 with an untethered jailbreak after jailbreaking with a tethered jailbreak?

  • I realize the untethered jailbreak is right around the corner, but is it possible for me to run the untethered jailbreak on top of the tethered jailbreak that is already installed on my iPhone without having to restore? That way it will fix the phone from having to be plugged in to my computer to boot up.

  • Answer:

From everything I've read you can't run one jailbreak on top of another. When you use a new one it replaces the other. The newest untethered jailbreak I know of is for 4.3 using jailbreakme.com. If you have anything newer you can't run untethered unless you can backdate the firmware back to 4.3. You might also try using sbsettings from cydia to respring ever so often. I'm running tethered & use the respiring method & haven't had to reboot in 2 weeks.

yea they are making very nice updates to redsn0w. you will be able to jailbreak your current tethered jailbreak with the untethered redsn0w version. it should be very easy and you won't have to reload firmware or lose any apps or cydia stuff. basically all it will do is remove the tether. follow the chronic dev team and iphone dev team blogs or twitter and you will be the first to know when its released
