How do I remove a virus from my Blackberry Tour?

Virus on my blackberry device?

  • So I have a blackberry torch 9800 and its infected with a virus that, as far as I can tell, hides all my music, pictures, videos and podcasts, they aren't deleted, they're just hidden from view, because if I connect my BB to the PC, I can see them. Last time this happened I had to reformat my micro SD card and the phone memory as well to remove the virus. But now I have 700 songs that I keep in the blackberry, that aren't on my computer. So I really don't want to reformat it!! Can I erase the virus without reformatting the memory?? Help please. Side note: when I open the memory card on my computer, there's a folder that I ddnt put there. I delete it, and it just keeps popping up again, no matter how many times I delete it.

It doesn't sound like a virus to me. Blackberry devices require you to give permission for any app installed to run. A virus wouldn't be allowed to run on the system unless you specifically told the phone to allow it. It sounds to me like your media folder is hidden. You should be able, while on the main screen with all of the icons, to push the little "Blackberry" button and select the "show all" option. Your media folder should come back at that point. If you can see the music files, why not drag them to your PC, thus creating a back up of all the music and podcasts and what not. Then, if you end up having to wipe/erase the phone, you won't lose anything. Good Luck.
