Blackberry phone wont work. im getting a new one but i really don't want a blackberry anymore....?

My blackberry curve was not working so i called the people from sprint and they told me to go to a sprint store where there they should get me a new phone. what i was wondering is will i be able to get a whole new other phone?? My blackberry was free so like could i get a different type of phone thats free?? or there just gunna give me the same type of phone i had before?
