Need help with blackberry pearl?

BLACKBERRY PEARL in desperate need of help!!!!?

i got given a blackberry pearl from my friend a few weeks ago because he got a new iphone and i've swiped the memory and everything but now that my sim card is in i can call people and get called, receive messages but cant send them. its so frustrating and i am not able to set up my e-mail with the phone because it wont let me! i am on the prepaid $29 cap if that helps... please help me !

Call customer service. I'd guess it would have something to do with either the SIM card (I never understand why people switch these out--each phone has its own for a reason; you can disable functions of a phone by putting the wrong SIM card in) or the fact that you're not using one of the carrier's own phones. They'll be able to tell you which.
