I just bought a battery for my psp 3001?

i just bought a battery for my psp . what i found out when i put the new battery in was that my psp does not turn on and on the battery it says compatible with psp 2000/3000 but my psp is a 3001. is that why my psp wont turn on because its not compatible with the battery???

Let's start with the basics....did you charge that battery? I'm assuming you did...so let's continue. Does it turn on when you have it plugged in the AC adapter....if not, then it's not the battery but probably your power input connections. In other words, get that receipt handy or find a decent modder to crack that system open. If it's under warranty, get it replaced.
