How to fix text icon on blackberry bold 9700?

I have a blackberry bold 9700, I've had it for a couple of months. Everything about this phone is great except for the fact that the phone is telling me I have a text message but I don't, I tried turning it off and turning it back on but I didn't do anything and I also tried deleting all my text messages and nothing. Plz help! Also my sister has a blackberry and she has facebook as an app and she's having the same problem with the facebook icon the let's her know she has a notification.
Answer:

Try a battery pull. With your phone powered on remove the battery for 30 seconds then put it back in. When your phone reboots the notification should be gone.
