My blackberry curve 9300 has a wierd icon that poped up and I can't make it go away?

The icon is in between the volume and the micoscope, it looks like a small envelope with a black circle in the middle and a smaller red circle on the top right of it. What is it and how do I get rid of it because it bugs the hell out of me!!!
