What is a USB sync cable and how does it work?

Can't get PDA touch screen to work when connected to USB cable?

  • I have a venerable Sony Clie S360. It's over 6 years old and works great. Recently however, I have had this one problem. When I connect the USB cable to the Clie's connector on the PDA's bottom, the tocuh screen doesn't work. Just to clarify things - by connecting the cable, I mean even before I've begun to Hot-Sync. (In fact, I can't Hot-Sync, since the HS only button I've got is on the PDA's screen.) When I say that the screen doesn't work, I mean specifically as a touch screen - the graphcis are still visible, and I can use the physica; buttons below the screen and the jog wheel. It's just that touching on-screen buttons is futile - nothing happens no matter how many times I tap. I try to hit the hotsync button and connect as quickly as I can afterward, but that doesn't help.

I haven't used a Clie in ages (I started with the N760C). It seems like your screen is 'semi-functional' (you can still hotsync by pressing the onscreen button it seems). Did you try recalibrating the screen? Does this only happen when trying to hotsync? Does it work if you only use the adapter for charging? You could probably try a soft reset and see if that fixes the problem. If not, you could backup your device and go for a hard reset (if all other methods fail). Sorry, I can't be of any more help.
