HELP!!! Blackberry Curve wont turn on. Blackberry curve 8310 ?

My blackberry curve i got from my friend like a week ago.. He gave it to me and said it is fine. he said theres no charge right now. i went to my cousins house and i hooked it up to the charger and it still doesnt work. Also the phone feels kind of light. Do i need to buy a new battery or what will they do if i take it to at&t? Thank you

Answer:
you should definitely try another battery just to rule that part out. If it still doesn't power on but you see the red light flashing, you need to run Application Loader and have it remove EVERYTHING from the phone.
