Why can't I connect my Nintendo DS to Wi-Fi?

HOW DO I CONNECT MY NINTENDO DS TO WIFI? PLEASE HELP!?

  • Hello :) Okay so I'm having trouble connecting my Nintendo DS Lite to Wifi. I have Wifi and a wireless internet. I get through all the steps of the Nintendo Wifi Connection Setup until Step 3, the final step. When I search for an access point it says: "The access points security seettings are not supported by the Nintendo DS" What does that mean, can I still conect it to wifi and how do I?

  • Answer:

You have to find out if you're using WPA protocol or WEP protocol, and if your Wifi router / access-point has DHCP or not

What does it mean? Hey, if you're clicking on networks with a GREY colored lock next to it, it means the networks is either too old, or the Nintendo DS software cannot connect to it. I tried this with my linksys router, but I had that router for a LONG time, and I had a grey colored lock next to it when I was scanning for networks. Oh, and Red colored locks are WEP protected - you need a WEP key to connect to the network. Sadly, the neighborhood I live in has alot of WEP protected networks, making me unable to connect to Wi-FI, which sucks for me. I have to go around finding hotspots...which gets annoying. If your neighbors will happily give you the key to their network, you're in luck.
