Why does my psp does not turn on and the battery works?

Why wont this new battery work with my PSP(fat)??

• i own the normal psp(fat) i have two problems. i bought the 3.6v 2200mAH gold one or whatever. i get home, i charge it via the new separate charger i have so i can get ready to use it. about 1-2 hours later i take it out and place it in my psp to see if it works. it doesnt. my psp wont even turn on. i figured it was the wrong type of battery. but from what i hear, it doesnt matter what battery you have. ALL batteries should be compatible with the PSP(fat). so why the heck wont this new freakin battery work. ALSO, is it possible (if the new battery i got ISNT the right one) to make the new battery compatible with my psp??? by crackin the thing open, and disabling something in the chip? idk. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APRETIATED

  you may have a problem with that battery itself but u proll have the battery 4 the 2000 series n the phat psp is the 1000 series i dont think you can get the a 1000 series batter in the store.... but you could go to ebay or amazon but i always go to playasia.com when i buy something like a game or my go!cam that i got recently hope i helped!!
