How do i know if my iphone is first or second generation?

Look up online it's ways all types of i's and their generation

ONe is bigger than the other. Th ist is bigger. and has a dull grey backing. the new ones have a white or black backing

If it has external speakers it's a 2nd generation (the newer one). First generation does not have external speakers. You can also check by going into settings>general>about> then look at version. if it starts with 2 then its second generation. Hope this helps! =)
