Question about palm to the cell phone?

Question regarding Asurion cell phone Insurance?

  • From my understanding if you have lost your phone, they will simply send you a replacement after paying the deductible but if your phone has say, a cracked screen, and it needs to be replaced, you pay the deductible, are sent a replacement and then they require that you send the damaged phone back (or they will charge you an additional fee for not returning it). My question is why not tell them the phone is lost if it has been damaged (other than the whole dishonosty thing and possible insurance fraud)? I've read a lot of stories online of people getting charged for not returning the defective phone even though they had. I work for a cell phone company and I know there are these kind of "loopholes", so I'm just curious. I know I'd rather keep the phone with a cracked screen to just have around than going through the trouble of sending it back and worry about being charged

  • Answer:

If your insurance covera lost phones then I suggest reporting it stolen. It sounds like the best way to avoid problems with having to send them your damaged phone.
