Why is my cell phone not working?

My phone has suddenly stopped working. It kinda happened over a one day time frame when my family rented this new vehicle to take on vacation. I somehow think recharging my phone in the car spiked my phone in some way cause after I unplugged it, it still had the little battery sign at the top saying it was still charging. It never went away either and it stopped vibrating every time I plugged it back in to recharge. Finally after I left it on for too long and it died, I charged it back up but now that it's on full it wont turn back on. The best I can get it the little battery sign telling me how charged it is. Can anyone tell whats going on? Is there anyway I can fix it? It's a Boost Galaxy Prevail touchscreen.
