I lost my AT&T phone - what's the cheapest way to get another phone?

I just lost my cell phone -- and I honestly do not want to have to pay their insane full phone prices just to get another phone. (At Sprint, I never had such problems -- I always got the phone at the promotional price) I've never had a sim card cell phone before, and that lost phone was my first sim card phone. I've heard of people buying online, and just activating their old ones (I obviously can't do this) and I wonder if anyone can lead me through or give me tips? :( I really don't want to pay 250+ just for a replacement phone, so any walkthroughs or tips are appreciated!

Go to the AT&T store and ask for a PrePaid cell phone. Their cheapest one is $30 and its a Nokia. My friend did this. Have AT&T give you a new SIM card if you do not have it. DO NOT ACTIVATE THE PREPAID SIM THOUGH. If you run into problems or need more info please e-mail me at [email protected]

Go around school and ask if anyone is selling there old cell phones. That'll make you feel cheap (joke). One of my friends just gave his away cause someone else asked for it - it wasn't tied to a network or anything, it was just his old one.
