Can I use WiFi on my Android phone with no service?
-
I just bought a Cricket ZTE Score Android phone (very cheap) and do not want to activate the $55/month talk and data plan but use it like a (very small) Android wireless tablet. It appears that I have to activate the phone before it will allow a WiFi connection to be established. Are there any workarounds?

Answer:
I believe the answer is yes - phones should still enable you to use Wi-Fi even if there is not data or voice plan on your phone. From your phone, tap on "Settings", "Wireless & Networks", "Wi-Fi" and ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled. You should be good to go. If that does not work, go to the Wireless & Network settings, "Mobile Networks" and Disable "Data Enabled". You should be good to go.
