Choosing a Smartphone- Nokia, iPhone, Blackberry?
-
Hey there! I'm trying to decide what smartphone would be best for me...I've been a Nokia fanboy for years, having owned an N95, N96, 5800 Xpressmusic and currently an N97...I'm due for an upgrade but have no idea what to choose...I enjoy my N97 and love it's features. However, the current OS is a real pain (lagging, freezing, rebooting). I also love the qwerty keyboard just for its convenience. Being a techie guy means always wanting the latest, coolest gadgets! haha So Im trying to decide between a Nokia N8 (although I'd be losing out on the qwerty-is that such a bad thing?), Nokia N900 (is Maemo currently worth it?), iPhone 4 (I own an iTouch 2nd gen and altho it's cool, Im not crazy about getting almost the same thing as a phone- is it That different? or a Blackberry?- don't know much about them, just that theyr super popular for bbm feature. I also heard about an upcoming Nokia N9? Should I maybe just wait for that? Opinions would be great guys! Thanx! lol and sorry for the essay! haha

Step 1: Determine Your Budget and Plan * Smartphones come in different price ranges depending on the services and applications they offer. Before you start shopping around for a phone, determine how much you want to spend on it. Cell phones providers typically offer great discounts both on smart phones and other phones if you are willing to sign up for a two-year contract for a plan. If you are willing to sign up for a plan, you can often get a better deal if you buy the phone through another store, such as Amazon, instead of buying it directly from the cell phone provider. # Step 2: Prioritize * You should also think about what features and applications are important to you. While smartphones offer many fun and practical features, they might not be features you need or would use. On the other hand, some features might be important to you. Don't buy a phone with cool features to impress your friends. Instead, decide if you would use: * GPS navigation * Word processing software * Internet access * Email * Virtual keyboard * Personal organizer * Media software * Capacity to read e-books * A large memory * The option to expand the memory # # Step 3: Options * Next, familiarize yourself with the different smart phones currently on the market. Some of these are: 1. BlackBerry: Most BlackBerry phones are smart phones, including BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Storm and several other BlackBerrys. BlackBerry is only available through Verizon in the United States. 2. iPhone: iPhone is manufactured through Apple and available through AT&T. The phone has Internet access and a media player. iPhone 3G supports 3G wireless networks. 3. Palm Treo: Palm Treo is sold by Palm and can be used with several cell phone carriers. 4. Nokia: Nokia offers several smart phones, including Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia N95. # Conclusion * When choosing a smart phone, there are several things to consider, including the price, cell phone carrier and features. Learn about all these aspects before you decide which phone to purchase.
What do you need it for? My friend is a businessman who hates his i-phone as it's not for his requirements!
Depends how much you intend to use it every day. I find myself recharging my iphone daily, and would much rather have got a blackberry for the longer battery life.
