What will my phone insurance cover?

Will Insurance cover my phone?

  • I have a Samsung Galaxy S2. I was holding it when my dog ran past me and knocked it out of my hand and now the entire screen is very badly cracked, yet the phone still seems to work fine. The insurance is from protectyourbubble.com, they say they don't cover cosmetic damage, but I'm not sure if this damage is cosmetic as it's a touch screen phone with a badly cracked screen, yet seems to be working. Do you think I'll be able to claim?

  • Answer:

Yes, your insurance should cover it. A cracked phone screen can be considered hazardous and is critical to functionality of the phone itself. An insurance provider that tells you otherwise would be considered crooks. To be on the safe side, however, you may want to contact a representative with protectyourbubble.com before filing a claim, and just tell them you're interested in purchasing insurance from them (do not tell them you're an account holder). Tell them you're looking to purchase insurance for a phone, and tell them, theoretically, if you were to drop the phone, and the screen should crack, would this be covered under their plan? Make sure their company doesn't have multiple plans, and that your specific plan covers cracked phone screens. If they tell you, no you're phone has to be inoperable before you can file a claim, run over your phone with the car first or report it stolen, before filing an actual claim.
