Can I Jailbreak my iPhone on 3.1.2?

Is it safe to Jailbreak my iPhone 4?

  • I got my iPhone from Verizon a few months ago and kind of want to Jailbreak it but I have a few concerns... 1) If Jailbreak does mess up will I have to get a completely new cell phone? 2) Will my phone service still be with my family account on Verizon if I jailbreak it? 3) What jailbreak program is the easiest/simplest to use? 4) Will i still be able to purchase apps/music/etc from iTunes? 5) After jailbreaking does the phone still work normally? Like with texting/calling/apps? My biggest concern is if jailbreak were to mess my phone up. I really don't want to have to buy a completely new phone if it does, so is there a way to fix your phone if it does mess up and restore the phone back to it's original settings?

Here are some answers to your questions that will hopefully help you out :) 1) No, you will not have a completely new phone IF you back up your phone to iTunes before you start with the jailbreak process. Please do remember to sync your iPhone with iTunes before you try to jailbreak it, so that in the event that the jailbreak messes up with your phone, you can restore all of your data (contacts, texts, apps, music etc.) from iTunes. 2) Yes it will. Jailbreak does not affect the carrier whatsoever. It will only affect the operating system. 3) I recommend RedSn0w. Its the easiest. With just one click, you can jailbreak your device and Cydia will be automatically installed. 4) Yes you will. You can purchase and use all of the Apple softwares. The only thing you shouldn't do after you jailbreak your phone is update the software. Updating the software will wipe out the jailbreak. 5) Absolutely. The phone will retain all of its normal functions. Think of it as this : Jailbreaking you phone will only add more functions to your phone, not reduce it. Yes. If somehow the jailbreak messes up with your phone (which shouldn't because the jailbreak software is usually very stable by the time the it is released to the public) , you can plug your phone into your computer, open iTunes and hit the restore button. Your phone will return to the state when you last backed it up. That means, all the apps, music, movies, texts, contacts etc. will be restored. Hope this helps :)

I wouldn't do it. I jailbroke my iPhone awhile back, and then tried to un-jailbreak it and it fried the whole phone, so it didn't work anymore.
